Barnsley is a great student town with an excellent location; we are in-between Sheffield, Leeds, and Manchester - three of the North's most vibrant cities.

Becoming a student is an exciting step. Your first few weeks will be very busy and you will be inundated with new faces, names, and friends.

At Barnsley College, we do everything we can to make your life here happy and rewarding. Our staff will go out of their way to help, and do anything they can to solve problems you might have.

Student Services is situated in the reception area at the Old Mill Lane site in room B164. The contact number is 01226 216267/216114. Student Services offers the following services:

The service is available at the following times all year round:
Monday –Thursday 0900 – 1700        Friday 0900 – 1600

Connexions Personal Advisers


The College has Connexions Personal Advisers based in College to offer help and support to students up to the age of 19 with personal and social issues


In some circumstances you maybe able to receive financial support while studying at College. There are many different types of financial support available, please read the following information to see whether you are eligible for support.


Are you thinking of joining a course, but are worried about what support you may get?

If you are aged 16-17,  in full time education and resident in South Yorkshire, you maybe eligible for a concessionary bus pass.  Application forms will be available from Student Services and your local Travel South Yorkshire Centre.  Completed application forms must be submitted to the Travel Information Centre, Barnsley. 

Where individuals and groups can explore career opportunities using a wide variety of information and resources. The College has a partnership with Connexions/Prospects and appointments can be made to discuss career options with a Careers Adviser.

A drop-in session can be offered by the Barnsley College Careers Development Adviser at the usual opening times.

Although we all hope to get through life without major problems, the reality is that most of us have to face difficult circumstances at some point. At such times it can help to talk to someone else in privacy, and in confidence.

     27 SeptemberBarnsley College will hold its Graduation ceremony on Friday 1st October 2010 at 12.00pm at Barnsley Town Hall.

    21 SeptemberBarnsley College and Fosters Bakery formalised their working relations with an official partnership signing event on Tuesday 14th September. More

    6 SepetmberBarnsley College were delighted to find out that they had made it through to the regional final of the National Training Awards. Following a visit from the judges, the College has now progressed on to the regional final where the winners will be announced in September.
