Tailored training packages to suit your business needs
There are four types of training packages available to all age groups, which are:

  Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is a work based training programme, designed around industry needs, which leads to a nationally recognised qualification. It allows you to train both new and existing staff. As the employer, you would be responsible for providing your Apprentice:
• With an introduction to the job
• Providing On-the-job training
• Paying the Apprentice’s wage

  Train to Gain

One of the key challenges facing businesses today is skill shortages. Train to Gain allows you to train your existing staff with the following benefits:
•Valued employees receive the right skills
•Minimum disruption to working time
•Wage contribution to companies with less than 50 employees
  Short Courses

Barnsley College has helped many businesses in Yorkshire and Humberside to develop, grow and increase their productivity and profitability, delivering the exact training that employers ask for and need.
We offer a variety of short courses which will develop skills and knowledge. These cover many national standards and legal requirements. We can create a bespoke training package to suit your exact business requirements.

  Programmes for the unemployed

If are over 18, claiming Job Seekers Allowance and been unemployed for 6 months or longer, we can help you get the skills to gain future employment.


Recruitment

Barnsley College works with Jobcentre Plus to get people who have been unemployed for 6 months or longer, back into employment. We can assist your organisation with its recruitment through the use of customised pre-employment training programmes. Our learners are over 18 and are looking to secure employment. We will provide you with:
• Recruitment and selection - to match candidates to your job description
• Training prior to them starting a job to ensure they have got the right skills
• Further training when they go into employment

Barnsley College believe in providing a truly responsive service to employers. To support this, every year we carry out a substantial employer survey, which provides crucial feedback on the perception of Barnsley College and the services offered. 

If your business needs to rationalise staff, we can offer free and impartial information, advice and guidance services to you and your staff throughout this difficult time.  We have trained advisors who work with external partners to enhance support available.

The Employer Responsive Department (ERU) offers effective marketing material, information, advice and guidance to employers and learners who wish to apply and enrol at Barnsley College.  The ERU also supports Employers enabling them to be successful in their choice of provision and to assist their employees to progress appropriately.

 27 SeptemberBarnsley College will hold its Graduation ceremony on Friday 1st October 2010 at 12.00pm at Barnsley Town Hall.

21 SeptemberBarnsley College and Fosters Bakery formalised their working relations with an official partnership signing event on Tuesday 14th September. More

6 SepetmberBarnsley College were delighted to find out that they had made it through to the regional final of the National Training Awards. Following a visit from the judges, the College has now progressed on to the regional final where the winners will be announced in September.
