Sports Enrichment & Performance-based TeamsBarnsley College prides itself on providing a diverse and engaging Enrichment programme. The programme offers a range of sporting, physical and recreational activities that students can take part in. Competitive sports fixtures and activities are held on Wednesday afternoon at the Honeywell Sports Centre. The College has a reputation for producing excellent sports teams and provides opportunities for students to develop as a performer/athlete, whilst at the same time, undertake full or part-time studies. College sports teams include Football, Basketball, Rugby and Netball which compete regionally and nationally in either the English Colleges FA or the British Colleges Sport Leagues. Also available are a range of recreational activites and intra-mural leagues. Recent Sporting Successes 2008/09 Barnsley College dominated the English College’s FA Northern Leagues with both the 2nd male Football teams being crowned League Champions. Football: Male Football Development Centre - 3rd in the ECFA Northern Premier League Male 2nd Team (A) - ECFA League 3 Champions Male 2nd Team (B) - ECFA League 4 Champions Female Football Squad - Reached the Semi-Finals of the British Colleges Sport North East Cup Post season the College took three teams to Spain to compete in the Catalonia Cup, enjoying huge success. The ladies won their open age competition and the male teams finished first and runners up in the U19’s, beating teams from across Spain, including Spanish league opposition in the form of FC Girona. Barnsley College will hold its Graduation ceremony on Friday 1st October 2010 at 12.00pm at Barnsley Town Hall.
Barnsley College and Fosters Bakery formalised their working relations
with an official partnership signing event on Tuesday 14th September.
Barnsley College were delighted to find out that they had made it
through to the regional final of the National Training Awards. Following
a visit from the judges, the College has now progressed on to the
regional final where the winners will be announced in September.
