Group bookings including an escorted guided tour are available at a moderate charge. However, should you decide to embark on a more educationally focused visit, Wigfield Farm can provide a wide range of facilities and resources for use by schools in relation to the Key Stages of the National Curriculum.
The farm is adjacent to Worsbrough Country Park and provides an ideal situation for field work. Support and assistance can be provided by experienced farm or academic staff to make your visit all the more worthwhile. The farm offers a purpose built laboratory facility designed for environmental and rural studies activities, an Information Technology suite and normal classroom facilities complete with a wide range of teaching aids. 'THE LIVING CLASSROOM' - Purpose designed learning materials are also available at a moderate cost. Booking (online booking forms ) Directions Wigfield Farm is located approximately 2 miles to the South West of Barnsley, adjacent to Worsbrough Country Park, and is easily accessible from both junctions 36 and 37 of the M1.The entrance to the Farm is on Haverlands Lane, close to the A61, the main road connecting Sheffield and Barnsley. The Farm is well signed from Worsbrough Bridge on the A61. Travelling by Car From junction 36 of the M1 (Tankersley), follow signs for Barnsley on the A61. Travel through the village of Birdwell, and head down the hill, past the car park for Worsbrough Country Park. Pass the Button Mill Inn on the right, and at the bottom of the hill as you approach Worsbrough Bridge, take the left fork before the Ship Inn, and immediately left again on to Haverlands Lane. Wigfield Farm is a short distance along this road, on the right. A car park is situated on the site for use by visitors. Travelling by Bus Regular bus services use the A61 route and bus stops are located at the end of Haverlands Lane serving both directions of travel. Several frequent services are available. Particularly convenient for visitors is the X10 bus service that connects Sheffield and Barnsley. The farm is a short (10 minute) walk from the bus stops. Time tables for these bus services can be viewed using the following link: SYPTE web site Cycle parking facilities are provided outside the Café, and the Trans-Pennine Trail provides a good and scenic cycle route and bridleway to the Farm. Access for All The site is gently sloping and all buildings are single storey. This makes the farm suitable for people with restricted mobility and young children. Barnsley College will hold its Graduation ceremony on Friday 1st October 2010 at 12.00pm at Barnsley Town Hall.
Barnsley College and Fosters Bakery formalised their working relations
with an official partnership signing event on Tuesday 14th September.
Barnsley College were delighted to find out that they had made it
through to the regional final of the National Training Awards. Following
a visit from the judges, the College has now progressed on to the
regional final where the winners will be announced in September.
