BARNSLEY COLLEGE CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE AGAIN![]() Barnsley College entered two male teams and one female team into the Catalonia Trophy for the second successive year to defend their titles of male U19 and female open age champions. Each team played three league fixtures against Spanish and French opposition in Catalonia. All three teams demonstrated development in terms of an understanding and appreciation of continental football. “The players adapted really well and played some excellent football, which was extremely pleasing from a coaching perspective.” After 4 days of football Barnsley College’s male squads retained their title of U19’s Catalonia Champions and runners up, while the female U19 squad won the open age league before eventually losing to the hosts FC Lloret in the play off final. The coaching team of Mark Ryan, Neil Johnson, Jess Burton and Sue Elrington were extremely proud of the students’ success and the professional attitude they displayed both on and off the field.
