School Boy Award Winner finds Summer Employment

Thomas Wigglesworth receiving his award

Thomas Wigglesworth, 16, formerly of Kirk Balk School has achieved the first step in his long-term ambition of becoming a professional within the construction industry.
Thomas who was this year’s winner of the Barnsley Schools Award for Achievement at Barnsley College’s annual Excellence Awards, has been offered a job for the summer with Miller Construction UK. This could potentially lead to full time employment with the firm.

Millers are currently on track to complete the College’s £50m new build by summer 2011 and have taken on several apprentices from the College Construction and Engineering departments, as well as pledging sponsorship to the Excellence Awards event.

Thomas took a first diploma with the College and is on target to achieve distinctions in his last 3 units.
