Generous awards guests help College Haiti appeal

Is this the way to Amarillo?

A music video produced by and featuring students and staff from across College departments was premiered at the College’s annual student Excellence Awards ceremony which took place on the 24th June.

The comic-strip style rendition of Amarillo entertained guests at the ceremony, who generously donated a total of £500. This amount exceeded the production team’s target of £300 and has been pledged in aid of the Haiti earthquake appeal.

The money will be used to provide life saving assistance, and in the long term also help to build shelters and secure spaces for children, rebuild livelihoods and control infectious diseases amongst those affected by the earthquake.

College music lecturer Tim Speight was responsible for overseeing the production. He said of the video, “it has been a massive year long project that allowed many final year students to showcase the skills they have acquired in their time at the college whilst fundraising for a good cause. It’s been fun and hard work, but the finished product looks and sounds fantastic. It was a high note for the students and the evening to finish on.”
