Music Students enjoy Jon Gomm Guitar Masterclass

 Barnsley College Music Department held a guitar masterclass for students on Tuesday 15th June 2010 featuring the international guitarist Jon Gomm. Jon performed a range of his own material and then conducted a special guitar masterclass workshop afterwards. Jon is not a stranger of Barnsley College having performed previously over the years.

Jon is well known for his singer-songwriter and acoustic solo performance, with an incredible virtuoso guitar style, where he uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, bass lines and sparkling melodies all at the same time.
Richard Tolson Curriculum Quality Leader said “we are pleased to welcome Jon back to the stage,  here at the Barnsley College Music Department, he projects a new element of musical performance to the acoustic guitar for our students. All the audience enjoyed the show and were mesmerised by his playing style. Afterwards the students spent time being tutored in the playing style by Jon. These type of events help raise our students expectations and musical standard ready for life as a working musician."
