Princes Trust Students Celebrate Success
Students studying on a personal development programme run in association with the Princes Trust were this week celebrating after completing the 12 week programme. The students finished off their course with a 40 minute presentation to members of the Princes Trust as well as other College staff, family and friends. The presentation highlighted all the excellent work they have carried out throughout the 12 week programme and helped to demonstrate how far they have come over the duration of the programme.
Throughout the programme the students have been involved in a number of projects both in College and out in the community. They attended a residential course in the Yorkshire Dales where they learnt a number of skills including orienteering and map reading. In addition, the students also carried out work in the local community at the St George’s Memorial Gardens where they re-laid a gravel path to improve the access. The students found the course to be challenging; however they had a lot of fun along the way and really developed as individuals and as part of a team. The programme also involved them carrying out week long work placements in which they were put into a variety of environments. They carried out work with elderly people with dementia out in the community and also ran fundraising activities including a fancy dress event in Barnsley town centre which helped to raise over £70. The programme is extremely rewarding and Course Leader Keith Bishop was extremely proud of all the students for the hard work they have put in over the last 12 weeks, “The students have been fantastic and have really developed their skills. The presentation just highlighted all the great work they have carried out not only in College but out in the community.” Students included: Amy Jagger, Adam Millard, Andrew Firth, Paige Inkle, Abi Brooks, Kyle Whysall, Tom Fielding, Dylan Lane and Louise Senior. For more information about the Princes Trust visit http://www.princes-trust.org.uk/ Article OptionsThis article has been added to your 'Articles to Read' list.
